Middle Schools in The Kelowna Mission Area
The Mission is home to two middle schools for students to attend. These include Canyon Falls Middle School and École K.L.O Middle School. Both facilities provide excellent educational opportunities to the children enrolled. If you are a parent living in the Mission, read the following article to learn more about where to send your child to middle school.
All About Canyon Falls Middle School.
Canyon Falls Middle is Kelowna’s newest school! CMS is located on Frost Road in the upper mission near Kettle Valley. This facility was first opened in September of 2019 and was designed to accommodate 21st-century learners. CMS is equipped with a range of high-end features and smartly constructed classrooms to ensure the best possible learning experience. This school serves grades 6-8 and takes in students from the following elementary schools:
Once students complete their three years at CMS, they are sent to Okanagan Mission Secondary for grades 9 through 12. CMS offers a wide range of courses, athletics, and arts programs so students can explore a range of interests. Those enrolled at the school can try a range of courses like fine arts, music, drama, foods, music, and technology! Moreover, the new Principal Sarah Watson has been leading the school’s staff and students since 2022.
CMS begins at 9:00 am and finishes at 3:15 pm each day. CMS follows an alternate course structure to other schools in the district. This is all based on research and allows students to foster their interests while still mastering the fundamentals of a traditional middle school environment. All About École K.L.O Middle School.
École K.L.O Middle School has been serving students in the City of Kelowna for over 20+ years! The school is located on Gordon Drive in the lower mission area. K.L.O teaches students in grades 7 through 9. This school is a french immersion school, however, french immersion is not mandatory. K.L.O offers a wide variety of classes with a more traditional teaching style. This school takes in students from the following elementary schools:
Note: *If your child is not attending K.L.O for a french immersion education and they are outside of the K.L.O catchment area they will be sent to CMS or the next closest Middle School. Schools with ‘french’ beside their title will only be allowed to attend K.L.O for immersion education.

Once students have completed their middle school years at K.L.O they will be sent to the neighbouring, Kelowna Secondary School for grades 10 through 12. K.L.O has a ton of academic and elective options available to students. For example, woodshop, tech ed, foods, sewing, art, careers, physical education, and more! Students also have the opportunity to play for one of many school sports teams volleyball, basketball, rugby, golf, hockey, track and field, and field hockey. The school also provides a music program and indigenous education.
K.L.O commences each day at 9:00 am and finishes at 3:14 pm. Students have four blocks per day with one break between each class. Each semester a student will carry eight classes and rotate through them daily. For more information about the course schedule and rotation, click here.
